381 Series "Super Yakumo"

● The "Super Yakumo" debuted in 1994 as a high-speed service within the "Yakumo" limited express lineup on the Hakubi Line.
● Unlike the standard 381 series "Yakumo" trains, the "Super Yakumo" featured upgraded amenities, such as a panoramic front car for the Green Car (first-class) and increased seat pitch in the standard-class cars.
● The livery featured a light purple base with three stripes, and the front and sides of the lead cars displayed the text "SUPER YAKUMO 381" and "WEST JAPAN RAILWAY COMPANY SUPER YAKUMO" in red.
● The train saw varied service, including adjustments to the number of cars based on seasonal demand, mixed-consist operations with the green-striped "Yakumo," and service as a standard "Yakumo."
● Among the 381 series "Yuttari Yakumo" trains that operated regularly until June 15, 2024, one set attracted significant attention by running in this "Super Yakumo" livery from February 17, 2023, to April 5, 2024.
● You can enjoy not only the uniform purple train set but also mixed-consist operations or passing scenarios involving the green-striped 381 series "Yakumo" (refurbished set) that was active during the same period.

Product Features
● Models the "Super Yakumo" as it appeared from 1995 until the train name was unified as simply "Yakumo" in 2006.
● Accurately reproduces the purple-based body color and the "SUPER YAKUMO 381" and "WEST JAPAN RAILWAY COMPANY SUPER YAKUMO" lettering.
● The 6-car set features a formation led by the panoramic Green Car, the Kuro 380. The 4-car set reproduces a formation led by the Kumoha 381 and incorporating the Saro 381 (modified with 3-abreast seating).
● Features roof-mounted whistles in their post-removal configuration; pantographs include snow-resistant covers and reproduce the single-horn contact strip appearance.
● Uses body-mounted close couplers (hookless type) for intermediate connections; both ends feature dummy couplers. Couplers and skirts for coupling operations are included for the Kuha 381 and Kumoha 381.
● The Kuro 380 accurately reproduces its distinctive body shape—including the large front window—and its 4-abreast seating interior; the train name display located between the headlights illuminates.
● Equipped with a slotless motor for smooth and quiet operation.
● Features KATO's proprietary tilting mechanism, replicating the inward body tilt seen on the actual train when traversing curves.
● Headlights and taillights illuminate (using white LEDs); the Kuha 381 and Kumoha 381 include a light-off switch.
● Uses a rotating mechanism for the train name display. Includes "Yakumo," "Super Yakumo," and "Commuter Liner" options for both the Kuha 381 (wide type) and Kumoha 381 (narrow type). The Kuro 380 comes with "Super Yakumo" pre-installed, with "Yakumo" and "Blank (Black)" options included for replacement.
● DCC friendly.
