● Baggage trains on the Tohoku Main Line connected the Tokyo metropolitan area—specifically the Sumidagawa Freight Terminal, a facility dedicated to baggage handling—with various locations across the Tohoku region via departing and arriving mail and baggage trains.
● Operations also included "ferry transport" (kōsō), where trains crossed the Tsugaru Strait via the Seikan Ferry from Aomori to Hokkaido; within Hokkaido, mail and baggage cars played an active role by being coupled to express trains such as the "Niseko" and "Taisetsu," as well as to local trains.
● Recommended locomotives for hauling this car include the 3070-2 EF56 (Early Version) and 3075-4 ED75 1000 (Early Production Version), both scheduled for simultaneous release.
