The Tenryu Hamanako Railroad is a third-sector railway company located in Shizuoka Prefecture. It began operations after taking over the former Japanese National Railways (JNR) Futamata Line.
The TH2100 series was introduced in 2002 to replace the rolling stock used since the line's opening.
